1950's Cookbooks
These cookbooks have been in my family since the late fifties when my mother bought a gas stove and these lovely cookbooks came with it (bound by wires in two large volumes). I've looked at these all my life and finally asked my mother just a few years ago if she wanted to let go of them. I loved the graphics and photos on the covers and inside. Thought I would just frame a few to put in the kitchen, but then noticed my cupboard doors in the butler's pantry. I held one up and yep, they would fit without having to do anything to the cookbooks; they could remain intact. I carefully took them out of the notebooks they came in by lifting the wire holders. There is a piece of cardstock behind each book to hold it in place behind the glass. This cardstock is then taped to the frame of the panes. I love the look and the cookbooks are preserved if I choose to use them for recipes--and they do have some great ones! Hope you don't mind Mom! I love my artwork! And, I don't have to look at my Christmas dishes all year that are behind them.
Close-ups of some of my favorites!
