After lunch I thought we were heading back to the house, but my daughter reminded me that I had wanted to visit Black Dog Salvage (from Salvage Dawgs on DIY network) if I ever got to Roanoke. I immediately said let's do it! After getting lost, we finally arrived and took in all the awesome things their store offered. As we were leaving I told her to drive around the block as I wanted to take a picture of the store sign. Who happened to be outside the store? Mike and Sally (black dog). I asked for their photo and he also had someone take one of me, him and Sally. He is just as he appears on the show, genuine, no pretense. I hope to go back again when I can shop longer.

My daughter had a birthday this week so we had to celebrate!! I baked a heart-shaped chocolate cookie which her husband decorated with an owl (her favorite thing right now). We cooked her favorite comfort food of chopped steak, gravy, biscuits, rice & asparagus. Stuffed is an understatement---we pigged out! Fun time, especially for her.
Due to the cooler weather, the leaves were starting to turn on the way home and getting off the interstate for awhile led to a great place for lunch that had a super gluten-free menu. A little further down the road, a roadside stand with fresh apples, and cheap. Sooooo good! Memories and pictures will go a long way in helping us to savor the trip. Hope to do it again soon-- I already miss them. I pray that all of you are having a fantastic fall! Did a little decorating before I left. Now, back to work tomorrow creating Christmas things to sell.
